A woman indicted with pursuing Kate McCann reportedly left her a recorded message which posed: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who witnesses stated has consistently claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are facing charges accused with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard call records and information retrieved from phones recorded Ms Wandelt repeatedly asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test throughout the past two years.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most covered child disappearance cases and is still unresolved.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

Another recorded message, presented in court, captured Ms Wandelt saying: "I know I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine used to be, but I believe what I know."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's recording said: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I am she? What happens next? Isn't that important for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a living here in Poland, I just want to discover," she added.

The jury was advised that by means of electronic messages, text messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a biological test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a bid to display a likeness to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.

The investigator, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who gathered the information, told the court there "didn't appear to be any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also communicated with family friends of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On October 9th, 2024, Gerry McCann answered a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "a wrong number."

That day Ms Wandelt left a message on Mrs McCann's voicemail saying "I will persist and I intend to demonstrate my point."

The court learned the co-defendant established a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt before joining her on a trip to the McCanns' residence in the county in December 2024.

Phone records showed Mrs Spragg had contacted via communication app to Mrs McCann to state the news outlets had depicted Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she deserved to be treated respectfully in the months before the appearance to Rothley, Leicestershire, in December 2024.

The court learned communications between the two individuals, in November 2024, planning attempting to get Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her garbage or from silverware at a eating establishment.

"We must take action," Mrs Spragg informed Ms Wandelt.

On the occasion of the visit to their house, the defendant sent a text which said: "We are positioned adjacent to the McCanns' home with our headlights off resembling private investigators. I desired to accomplish this with another person I hadn't anticipated I would be involved in this with the McCanns."

The case continues.
